The cover story of issue 6/ 2011 "Stand-Alone Photovoltaic Systems" describes the specifics of its basic components, focusing on controllers, batteries, inverters, lightning protection and mounting solutions for the panels. In Wind Energy section you can find an interesting material about the technological challenges facing the wind energy sector. The article presents the vision of specialists about the upcoming changes and challenges that the wind generator manufacturers and EPS operators are going to face in the next decade. In the current issue of the magazine, we publish the second part of the article “Operational Modes of Hydro Generators” describing the ability of hydro generators, installed in Bulgarian EPS, to operate in over-excited and under-exited mode during the recovery of the system after major breakdowns, which we have presented in issue 5/2001 of Energy Review magazine. Section "Electrical Power" is focused on correction of power factor - one of the main tasks facing the power engineers and manufacturers of electrical equipment.
